ROLL TIDE
17 National Championships –
I have been fortunate enough to witness the last 8 in person. Funny thing is, in Alabama, seldom do you pick your “Team”. It is usually
handed down generation to generation. You are either a Bama fan, or a fan of the team on the plains.
My greatest memories of the Crimson Tide are numerous. From my late Father and I listening
to John Forney and Doug Layton paint the picture of each play via the radio in our living room, to watching the 92 National
Championship Game live in NOLA with my late Mother. Or the 2012 National Championship with our late son, Justin Hornsby.
Seeing the last 5 National Title Games live with my wife Michele (as a fan) I have lived the dream. And I must
say the latest National Championship in Atlanta rivals that 92 game from the standpoint of excitement and awe. You hear players say “I dreamed of playing at Bama” – well as a fan, growing up in the tiny town
of Goodwater Alabama, I dreamed of seeing Bama play in person. That dream came true as I saw my first Bama
game in 1977, at the age of 18. Of course Bama rolled to a 55-6 victory over the Cardinals of Louisville
in a game that is forever etched in my memory. Back in those days, memorabilia wasn’t available like it is now, and I became a collector of “unique”
Bama stuff. Good luck stuff – and the passion of collecting Alabama Memorabilia began to rival
the passion of being a fan. Whether it was a statue of an Elephant or a Bama Football player, and I begin
to collect unique things as the years passed. My collection of unique Memorabilia has continued
to grow, and turned into my collection of Tide Rides. Each year for the past 8 years, one or more of the
Tide Rides, have been part of the annual Bama Homecoming in Tuscaloosa. That too has been a great experience as a fan,
to see the faces of other fans enjoy the parade. I developed this space to
share those with you as a collector or as a Bama fan, I hope you enjoy. Each
week during football season, I update this site (Blog-Scroll Down) and share my thoughts and my predictions about the upcoming
game. To the left, you can click on the links for portions of my collection and the Tide Rides.
I would like to invite
you to check out what the folks at Reese's have done. The official candy of NCAA football, contacted me with interest
in doing a story about "TIDE RIDES" and the fan who would have such a collection. Yours truly obliged, and
it was a good decision. The crew spent a few hours with Michele and me and were the nicest people. The entire
crew was fantastic, but special thanks to Joey, Sarah and Marty. You are welcome back anytime !!! There is a link at
the bottom for you to enjoy the segment..entitled, "BAMA'S BIGGEST FAN" ....yeah, I know..... keep
the comments about the title to yourselves...

DO TWO HALVES MAKE A WHOLE? It made a hole in the Tenn Defense.Roll Tide, my jinx has been broken. Three previous times I have been too Rocky Top, and 3 times I have fallen. In
my case the forth time is and was a charm.
Bama Rolled over the Vos, in rare form... holding the once mighty Vol
running attack to just 36 yards. I am not yet drinking the coolaid, but I am getting to the point I am ready to mix
it.
For the first time since the first game of the year, The Tide played well both half's and it showed.
Tenn was worn out by the end of the game and Bama was staying on the Ground and getting 6 to 8 yards a pop.
Next Up.. ARKY STATE AND HOMECOMING. While I don't know much (anything really) about Arky State, I do know
they will present problems if Bama lets them stay in the game. As previously mentioned it is Homecoming and Bama let
last years HC slipp away to a directional La School. I don't see that happening again. Bama 45 Ark St

WHEW!!!!!!!!! A close one In Bryant Denny and Lookout Rocky TopWell the Tide survived another scare in the 2nd half as they have a couple of other times this year. This one against
Ole Miss and the NUTT... but Bama survived .... 24 20.
THE GOOD.... Its a win THE BAD .....
No Points for Tide in 2nd Half...OLE MISS 17 THE UGLY..... Not being able to to put together 2 halves.
Bama came out early and took it to the Rebs and it appeared to be a runaway, but it ended up a donnybrook, with Bama holding
Ole Miss on a desperation drive at the end of the game.
______________________________________________________________________________________ The 3rd Saturday in October ..... well Okay it is the 4th Sat ...but all real Bama and Big Orange fans... but with the division
of the SEC the game now takes place at times on the 4th Sat. Night Game, on ESPN. Bama is favored anywhere from
5 to 7 depends on where you look. Anyone who has read my postings know I am afraid of every game :) I will be
in attendance at this one and this is my 4 consectutive trip to Rocky Top.. I hate it and LOVE it!!! That said I will love
it more after Saturday. Bama had everything to loose (not necessarily a good position) and Tenn nothing.
Bama
showed last week they can trail and not get into quicksand. I look for the Vol's to pull out all stops and be really
pumped. But JPW and company play very well on the road. I look for Tenn to do exactly what Ole Miss did,
try to stop the run. But I have seen the Vols play 3 times this year and they are not as good as Bama.
Emotion
and Momentum have a way of making up for lack of talent early but not over the long pace of a game. Bama will need to
control the ball more to try keep the defense off the field as much as possible as I suspect Tenn is going to try and run
up the gut with Cody out with his knee.
Still I see the Talent from Bama taking this one.

Bama took a week off and....Number 1 lost, but Bama remains #2Before talking about this weeks game against Ole Miss, I must talk about our win over Kentucky. The Wildcats played
quiet a game and gave The Tide a real tussle. After watching the game again, I thought Bama played well, but looked
tired, penalties and mentally didn't look as sharp. They did, play well out of the shoot and seemed to have lost their
intensity.
All and all they did move the ball well especially Glenn Coffee. And I would say that the
final score of 17 - 14 was not indicative of the way Bama played. This is a game that a year ago, I am not sure they
would have won. But it goes in the win column and the Tide Rolls on.
Much went on this week, of course Bama
was off and Texas capapulted from 5th in the polls to number 1 by taking it to the Sooners, in the Red River Shootout.
The Horns likely deserve the high spot in the polls though many Bama fans were upset, I felt Bama staying in 2nd is not a
bad thing. If they play well the rest of the year and take care of business, then things will fall into place.
That being said, the cliche (and I hate them) One Game at A Time, couldn't be more true than this weekend, as Bama tangles
with Johnny Reb. The Rebs are very good against Bama's strength , the Run...so I look for them to load up the box
and JPW will have to have a good day. We all know he is capable (SEE GA) of taking the game into his own hands....though
many still doubt him. They way I see this game is, Bama needs to take it to Ole Miss early and keep their
intensity, otherwise Ole Miss is capable of causing trouble. (See Florida.... Ole Miss ran through them like and enema)
This is the type of game the right reverend Houston Nutt excels.
I look for the Tide to perhaps have a few
webs to shake off from the off week, but remember Ole Miss likewise had the week off too.

And The Beat(ing) Goes On!!!Blackout!!! Are you kidding me ? 7 point underdog!!!! Are you kidding me?
Folks I have been a Bama fan for a long time. The first half of the Ga game last Sat was one of the best I have ever
seen the Tide play. Granted, they have a long way to go (See 30 points scored on them in the 2nd half) However, to beat
the #3 Ranked team in the country ....like a...well..like a dog? WOW.
Every phase of the game was in tact
and working like a well oiled machine for the first 30 Min. In fact Bama more or less played keep away and simply didn't
allow Ga to have the ball, for over 2 thirds of the first half. That in and of it self is amazing.
Five
times the offense had the ball in the first half and five times they came away with scores. John Parker Wilson turned
in what has to be called his personal best, against a very good Ga. Team.
Now Bama is # 2 or 3 depending on which
poll you subscribe. But as Coach Saban says, no one remembers who was number 2 last year the last week in Sept.... meaning
now is not important unless you loose.... to keep winning you must not think of loosing or winning, but of preforming at your
highest level and of the continuing process.
So many Coaches in the past several years, such hills to climb (NCAA
PROB), and finally it seems Bama has someone to lead them back to the top. Where a school like Alabama enriched with
tradition has been before, but the climb is as they say..one game at a time.
Next Kentucky. Honestly, I am
not that familiar with Kentucky this year other than Rich Brooks has done a great job, and they find themselves just like
Bama ...Undefeated. Defense seems pretty good as they have allowed fewer than 25 points by all opponents combined thus
far.
This is "one of those games" but I am counting on CNS to make sure the players continue that
climb.
Bama is favored by 16 - or 17.
My fearless pick... BAMA 35 Kentucky 10 Roll Tide
